How far away are we on data showing excess and cause of deaths?

Post by CoronanationStreet »

This seems to be (alternately, with "cases" which are driven by testing) the key point of discussion: what are the data on excess deaths by cause, including/excluding deaths "related to" Covid?

I see this data for 2020 is being compiled and finalised by Mr Smalley, which will hopefully inform further discussion.

Not convinced we'll ever get correct figures on this.

Excess deaths arent going to tease out the cause. Might be mortality brought forward, some will be lockdown and so on.

Plus a fraction of our deaths for the next several years will be lockdown related as undiagnosed cancers, mental health, poverty related issues and so on start to manifest.

That and if its open next winter i fully expect a brutal Flu season having had a vulnerable population completely shielded from it for the last 2 years so having near no useful residual immunity.
Id guess respiratory diseases will spiral for the same reason next season.
