Looks great! I'm sure it will be put on someones plan and might even be considered for next years budget.
But for this year the Covid industry should stick to what it knows will make money, and that is testing.
As Chris Hopson, chief executive of NHS Providers, nicely put it "we shouldn't relax anything until we drop below 1,000 positives per day" (sic).
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... newcomment
So we just need to keep the the testing numbers up, because at around 500,000 per day we will always remain comfortably above 1,000, and the revenues will keep flowing. So well done Chris! Take a bonus!
But of course it's always good to have a wonder cure or two in the pocket; after all, we wouldn't want people giving up hope.

Its in Phase 1 so far too early to say if it works or not.

Its many many months or more down the road and by that time Israel might not have the case load to finish the trials.

It'll be more worth looking at after Phase 2.

I spent half a winter there back in'83, in the Golan, it was surprisingly cold and snowy. Some parts of Israel, or Syria as Golan is/was, are very cold in December/January, so it will test the seasonal nature of the virus. I don't know how much difference, but I believe it should vary considerably, judging by last summer/winter in the UK.

Its highly seasonal. Northern v Southern Hemisphere spikes show that (outside tropics).

All other HCoVs are so it'd be incredible if this wasnt.

We also know that heat, humidity and UV are bad news for SARs2.
Europe in Winter in the cold, dry air, no UV *and* people all crammed indoors is never going to be great.
The tropics however where people live outside a lot more fare much better.

That said Israel tends to spend most of summer indoors in the a/c so the effect of that might be muted somewhat.

The actual data here appears to be that they gave the treatment to 30 people with moderate or severe C19 and 29 of them got better in about 5 days.

But they might have anyway... No control because it's only phase 1.

Considerable skepticism expressed about it here:

Well, it is 100% sure that this is about CD24, the rather ubiquitous cell adhesion protein, expressed on the cell membrane, which Arber is obsessed with and wants to deploy to cure everything.

This might be another of these well marketed "studies" that never ever sees the light of day once its got the attention, and presumably funding boost it craved.

Cynical? Yes. But realism and cynicism are often the same thing.

This whole pandemic has been ridiculous for this.

Pre-print in particular - a rush to push papers to preprint knowing there isn't a chance in hell its solid enough to pass peer review and ever get actually published.
Thats not how pre-print was intended !
